Now on to the camp....Marcus learned to dribble, pass, guard...he learned how to shoot a lay-up and a few of the rules of the game.
Here comes the proud parent...on more than one occasion they used Marcus as the "example". And as all of us parents do, I beamed with pride.
And at the end of the week when they handed out awards for each grade level, Marcus was awarded the MVP/Allstar award for his age group. His coach said he was a great listener, dedicated, follow directions, and "was one of the best players on the team". Again, my chest burst with PRIDE!
rest time...we're talking heat and humidity equals hot and sweaty!!
When he finally figured out the whole "guarding" aspect, he was awesome!
His MVP prize...guess we're Spurs fans now...lol
In for the lay-up...
So proud of Marcus. He worked hard all week long. He went in to the camp knowing barely how to dribble the ball, but he was determined. His natural abilities helped him learn and grow so much in just a short week. And not only with basketball. He learned confidence and teamwork. I saw him interact with kids he had never met before and frankly, will probably never see again until he attends the camp next year, but he treated them all like they were best buds. He's a good kid. I love him so much! Just typing this is making my chest burst with pride....wow, being a mother is so rewarding.
Way to go Marcus!!!! You will always be my little MVP!!
