MY FITNESS PAL

A great App/online program! Anyone looking to track their results and have support while doing it? I'm using MyFitnessPal. It tracks calories burned, eaten, weight, all your meals, progress. Its a great program and a great way to limit portions, take accountability, and just plain have fun with the daily ritual of staying healthy.

One option on it that I haven't used yet but really really want too is "Diet with friends". You can leave comments, see each others progress, cheer each other on, etc.

Anyone interested in using the App/Online program and tracking our progress together??? Check out the App on your phone or login on your computer, and lets progress together!!!

Leave a comment with your login and I'll invite you to "progress with me" or invite me... My login is habushman

LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!!

Homemade Playdough

The other day we made homemade playdough. Oh, the joys of play dough. Before long, Madelyn and Marcus were laughing so hard and each of their "unique" ways to utilize the play dough. And by "unique" I mean redundant...but we had fun. Brian, on the other hand, was more interested in creating one thing...

First we have the caribou toilet...really, I thought??
Then Madelyn creates a "bow like you make, mom" nice...
 And Brian follows...
Not really sure what this was meant to be but I remember distinctively the words, "take a picture, mom!"
 So Madelyn followed...
 And Brian worked and worked....
While Madelyn and Marcus continued to be silly...

 He rolled and rolled....
 "A zit like yours!!"....Okay
Brian's creations. Deer Poop...there's lots of it around the house and neighborhood
More to come...look at the intensity(hehe)
 Silent love...
More Deer poop...he's laughing because he THINKS he's so funny!
Still coming up with "unique" ways to place the play dough...
Still thinking he's pretty funny for making more and more deer poop...
 And the final "POOP"....that's BIG
Now he's catching up to the other two with "uniqueness"..."3-D glasses!!"
 Pumpkin face...
Snake on the head...or something that resembles a pink glob...

They keep me laughing....

MARCUS and BASKETBALL CAMP-2011

Marcus attended his first Basketball Camp this last week. It ran five days for 2 hours a day - perfect amount I time for his age, I think. It was a Church camp so each day they had a devotional. I sat in on the devotionals and they actually did a great job with them. The theme was Versus for Life from the bible. They used a scripture reference and then a little activity to bring it to the kids' level. I have to say I'll be using a few of the activities for my own Family Home Evenings.

Now on to the camp....Marcus learned to dribble, pass, guard...he learned how to shoot a lay-up and a few of the rules of the game.

Here comes the proud parent...on more than one occasion they used Marcus as the "example". And as all of us parents do, I beamed with pride.

And at the end of the week when they handed out awards for each grade level, Marcus was awarded the MVP/Allstar award for his age group. His coach said he was a great listener, dedicated, follow directions, and "was one of the best players on the team". Again, my chest burst with PRIDE!

rest time...we're talking heat and humidity equals hot and sweaty!!

When he finally figured out the whole "guarding" aspect, he was awesome!
 His MVP prize...guess we're Spurs fans now...lol
In for the lay-up...

So proud of Marcus. He worked hard all week long. He went in to the camp knowing barely how to dribble the ball, but he was determined. His natural abilities helped him learn and grow so much in just a short week. And not only with basketball. He learned confidence and  teamwork. I saw him interact with kids he had never met before and frankly, will probably never see again until he attends the camp next year, but he treated them all like they were best buds. He's a good kid. I love him so much! Just typing this is making my chest burst with pride....wow, being a mother is so rewarding.

Way to go Marcus!!!! You will always be my little MVP!!

MOMMY/DAUGHTER DATE

Madelyn and I went out on a "date" Wednesday night. It was sooooo fun! I love hanging out with my little girl. And she got all dressed up...to the NINES! Skirt, jewlery, lip gloss...so fun!

We started off at Target(not to exciting) with a pretzel and drink. There is where Madelyn presented me with a little gift she made. Later, we moved over to Ross for a little shoe shopping(can't wait to wear our new pairs tomorrow). And ended the night at the theater for a litte Judy Moody and the Not So Bummer Summer - soooooo cute!!

the two cards and teh little beaded necklace was her gift to me...
so sweet!
first ones in the theater...
Some of my favorite things about Madelyn:
  • Her giggle is so very contagious
  • She loves to be my little helper
  • She's girly in every aspect...but still loves to play with the boys
  • She is developing her own faith of Jesus and is so excited to be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
  • She really likes to read...she might be a slow reader(like her mother) but she gets so excited to tell me about the stories, the drama, the sad, and the exciting things with her books. LOVE IT!!!
Thanks, Madelyn, for being my BFF!!

RAINY DAYS...

Rainy days and Monday's always get me down....but not RAINY WEDNESDAY'S!!!

It started raining last night about midnight or there about and didn't stop until early this morning. Pouring rain, thunder, lightning galore - and I mean every 2-4 seconds. It was great! And such a blessing. We have been in a horrible drought.

Today we planned to go to Sea World. But the chance of rain and thunderstorms goes on all day today. And if I'm being totally honest with myself-I'm still SCARED to drive on wet roads. I know, I know...but I'm just scared. That "run-off" really did a number on me.

Anyway...the kids are finding their own fun - OUTSIDE because it's cool and it smells good. Their imaginations are running wild and I love it!!

Making the best of a Rainy Day...well, rainy morning. Next-homemade playdough...
Good times

2nd TOOTH...Lemonade Stands..

Marcus lost his second tooth on Friday, June 10th - There was a lot of bribery to get that darn tooth out of his mouth. It was hanging on my a THREAD and he wouldn't let me pull it. I finally pulled it out with my fingers. Surprisingly it didn't even hurt him - GO FIGURE! Kids....

The Tooth Fairy came and made it worth it to him...

The kids opened their FIRST LEMONADE STAND yesterday...They are trying to "earn" money for the new Lego Pirates of the Caribbean WII game. They got a good start...The best part was they all contributed.
 - Marcus was the brains behind the operation-he came up with the toys and the lemonade to earn money
 - Madelyn made all the signes and posters
 - Brian was the voice. Picture it...."Toys and Lemonade for sale!!!!! Toys and Lemonade for Sale!!!"

After their hard work, earnings and their willingness to pay tithing, I was so proud of them I wanted to go out and purchase the game for them.

$49.99 - ummmm....lets open one or two more of those stands first... hehe

GREAT JOB KIDS!!
